While you can’t take the city out of a true
New Yorker, you can certainly entice one with a change of scenery now and
again. With the doldrums of summer hastening to an end, New Yorkers are already
making their plans for the fall. After familiar jaunts to the nearby Jersey
Shore and weekend getaways in the Catskills, now is the time for new places and
experiences. Opening restrictions around travel and COVID-19 protocols make
more ambitious trips feasible after spending so many months close to home.
As it turns out, fall is a great time of year
for a trip to Florida. The tropical heat and humidity back down a bit as more
temperate months roll around. Yet, it remains warm enough to stay comfortable
outdoors all day and late into the evening. One of the most inviting and
diverse options the Sunshine State has to offer is SeaWorld Orlando, a staple
in any vacation plan for New York families.
Any New York City dwellers bound for Florida
this autumn can find several days’ worth of activities with a myriad of options
at SeaWorld Orlando. This fall promises to be one of the most memorable yet,
with exciting new programs and events designed around the season and with
marine life conservation and education at the base of it all.
Fun at SeaWorld Orlando for Guests of All Ages
No matter when you plan a trip from New York
City, the big question is going to be how long do you need at SeaWorld Orlando?
In fact, one of the most appealing aspects when visiting the park is how
engaging the exhibits, rides, and events are across age groups and interests.
If you’re traveling with young guests, they’ll
love interacting with their favorite characters in Sesame Street Land. Parents
even experience a bit of nostalgia as they stroll down Sesame Street and see
Mr. Hooper’s Store and Big Bird’s nest at scale.
Animal education experiences throughout the
park are also engaging and accessible, with walk-up observation and viewing
areas. Guests can learn about marine life conservation efforts, as well as the
unique habitats for different species, as they view animals of all types.
If the gardens and exhibits aren’t
breathtaking enough, guests can enjoy a number of exhilarating rides and
rollercoasters. Get soaked on one of the big-drop water rides and then dry off
at high speeds on some of the top-ranked coasters in all of Florida.
Seasonal Events Compliment Year-Round Fun at
SeaWorld Orlando
Unlike theme and family parks in the Northeast
U.S. that close down almost entirely in autumn, only to reopen the following
spring, SeaWorld Orlando remains active and open all year. The fun doesn’t stop
when fall arrives. In fact, travelers from New York City to SeaWorld Orlando
can take part in any number of events that celebrate the season, from stellar
stouts to spooky encounters.
Crafting Memories
Weekends welcome the SeaWorld Orlando Craft
Beer Festival, where connoisseurs can sample over 100 craft brews, wines, and
assorted beverages. Many are local to the Orlando area, giving New Yorkers who
frequent the craft brewery scene in the New York-New Jersey metro area a taste
of something new. Music and menus are also on hand to add to the festivities.
After-Dark Haunts
If frights and things that go bump in the
night are more your style, you will not want to miss the inaugural season of
Howl-O-Scream. SeaWorld Orlando transforms into an immersive experience of
terror, scare zones, haunted houses, and all things horror. Guests are welcome
to explore the park at their own peril, as ghosts, ghouls, and more roam free
and ready to make guests howl and scream the night away. This year’s Halloween
event starts early, with a September opening, and promises to be bigger,
better, and more blood-curdling than anything available in the New York
Tri-State area.
Kid-Friendly Surprises
Howl-O-Scream is meant for older guests, but
that doesn’t mean SeaWorld Orlando forgot your little ones. With the SeaWorld
Spooktacular, guests of all ages are invited to dress up in costume and have
fun during the day on the Trick-or-Treat Trail. Guests are invited to search
for all the available candy stations throughout the park and join in dance
parties all in the spirit of Halloween.
Animal Experiences
SeaWorld Orlando brings guests up close with
educational animal experiences that outshine anything offered in the Northeast.
Viewing tunnels, overlooks, and theaters provide unique perspectives on animal
behaviors, habitats, and conservation needs.
From Midtown to MCO, SeaWorld Orlando Is Just
Around the Corner
New York City is one of the few metro areas in
the U.S. to benefit from a variety of airport options with direct service to
Orlando. Choose from LaGuardia, JFK, or Newark Liberty airports, all with easy
access via car park options or metro access. Average flight times are just
between 2-3 hours, depending on the flight path and airline. That’s nearly the
same time it takes to drive to Cape May or the Catskills from New York City,
but with much more in store once you arrive.
The best part is how accessible SeaWorld is
from Orlando International. Lynx public transportation runs buses from the
airport to SeaWorld Orlando and surrounding accommodations, in a trip that
takes less than an hour. You can also arrange for shuttle service in advance
(or a car rental) if you want to stick to your own schedule. There are dozens
of hotels within just a few miles of the park, with many offering free shuttle
service to make things simple for guests.
Take off from New York City in the morning,
and you could be headed into Stingray Lagoon by mid-afternoon of the same day.
With so many exhibits and events to explore, be sure to look into passes and
perks for multi-day access. This way, you’ll be able to see, sample, and scream
your way to all SeaWorld Orlando has on offer this fall. Is it worth going to SeaWorld Orlando? There’s only one way to find out.
