Keep Calm and Carry On

Keep calm and carry on. Elections happen and there are going to be winners and losers. We are not always going to be happy about the way in which things end up, but we have to learn to move on the best way possible.

If you are afraid of Donald J. Trump these are my words to you.

Don’t. Be.

You don’t have to be afraid and you don’t need to be afraid.

Why? Because the mainstream media has been lying to you, the American voter, consistently for the past 12 months. From the first day in which Trump announced his candidacy, the mainstream media made it their mission to misquote, misinterpret, slander, and discredit Donald Trump. And, it wasn’t just Trump they slandered. They slandered Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein too. They never presented Hillary Clinton’s opposition fairly. Along with this misrepresentation, the media also exaggerated Hillary Clinton’s progress with polling data, and false commentary discussing her accomplishments. They did all of this to manipulate the American people into voting for her and give false hope to those who supported her.

There are many facts that contradict the narrative the mainstream media has conjured up throughout this election cycle.

Every single lie the media has told can easily be debunked by watching Donald Trump’s rallies, speeches and public experiences by themselves without the filter of the mainstream media. And that applies to Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein as well.

Yes, Donald J. Trump is President-Elect of the United States of America. And he will make America great again for all American citizens.

And if you are unsatisfied with his leadership you have the next election to try again. Who knows? Maybe you’ll be surprised by President Donald Trump and actually end up liking him. So, for now, keep calm and carry on.

  1. Dear Angela,

How you as a Hispanic woman can tell people who are devastated by the results of this election to “Keep calm and carry on,” is beyond me. How exactly does one twist someone else’s words, when they are on video saying those EXACT words? I implore you to check your privilege. As a presumably documented citizen, you have no fear of deportation. Telling people to keep calm and carry on is highly insensitive. Clearly you are not being tormented by individuals, nor are you afraid for the safety of your family and/or friends (or yourself for that matter). When hate crimes are committed, people engaging in them will not ask you if you are an American citizen. They will simply see a Hispanic woman and treat you (and other minorities) accordingly. I have no right to tell you how you should feel/react to the this election, and you have no right to tell anyone else how to feel/react.

    Sincerely,

    Simonne Francis

    • Simonne,
I completely agree. I’m tired of others saying we simply need to move on. That is not only disrespectful, but it also undermines our feelings. I’m not only angry, I’m also hurt. I feel betrayed by my fellow Americans. I find it laughable that Angela actually believes the right wing conspiracy that the world is against Donald Trump. Trump is a bigot and that is not questionable. He promotes hatred, that is shown by his supporters. There are people with genuine fears that are valid. How dare you disrespect your fellow Americans. Check your privilege, have empathy, and carry on.
      Best wishes,
      Kezia

  2. Author,

How can you tell a Muslim Syrian refugee, or ANYBODY, in the U.S., how to feel?

“Elections happen” is just not sufficient. Donald Trump proudly hates. He is proudly a rapist, a mysoginist, an Islamophone, and a white supremacist. He is proudly a prick. He knows nothing about governing, and especially nothing about running the most powerful governing office in the world.

We can not normalize Trump. And, I’m sorry, but you can’t tell people how to feel about it.
