River Center Introduces New Hours, Now More Available to Students

The River Center has implemented its new hours, allowing students and staff to use rooms, such as the “awesome room” shown here, for longer during the day. (Photo by Keene Kelderman)

As of September 12, the James P. Muldoon River Center is available to the St. Mary’s community during the evening. This pilot program will keep the building open every night from 5 to 11 PM, but these hours will alternate each day between being reserved for student or faculty events and being open for study hall.

Students ‘Splash’ into Haiti Relief

About 40 students and staff and two College administrators jumped into the St. Mary’s River on Thursday, Feb. 18 by the River Center as part of the annual Polar Bear Splash. Proceeds gathered from the event supported relief for victims of Haiti’s earthquake.

2009 Annual Cardboard Boat Race Makes a Splash

Hundreds of spectators lined the banks of the St. Mary’s River to watch the sixteenth annual Cardboard Boat Race last Saturday as part of the College’s 2009 Family Weekend.

The Cardboard Boat Race consisted of twenty teams, many composed of both faculty members and students. Leanne Gradijan, a first-year student at St. Mary’s and a race participant, said that each team was required to follow a specific set of rules governing boat construction.
