Sarah Kenton, a junior at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, has been accepted to participate in the Semester in Washington Politics Program (SIWP) at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. SIW brings together undergraduate and graduate students from around the country and the world for an intensive semester of coursework, hands-on skills practicum with political professionals, and meetings and events with key national leaders and organizations. This semester, students can anticipate meeting with Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, along with officials at The White House, The Canadian Embassy, Politico, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
While those are just a few of the events students will be attending this spring, each meeting will be set up with an added eye toward the competitive 2012 elections.
Kenton has accepted an internship within the U.S. Department of Treasury and will participate in the program’s practicum, in which she will work as part of a team of students under the tutelage of a professional campaign expert in developing a campaign plan for a 2012 Senate campaign.
Semester in Washington Politics offers undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to study and earn credit toward their degree at The George Washington University, while experiencing the nation’s capital and developing career direction for their post-graduation endeavors.
